Today was our last full day of cruising and it was a gloriously sunny day. By mid-morning most of us were up on the bridge deck soaking up the sun's rays, with jackets off, sleeves rolled up and sunscreen applied (yes, really). We picked up a couple of U.S. Forest Service kayak rangers, Jon and Kristin near the entrance to Tracy Arm.
Jon and Kristin stayed with us for a few hours, telling us about the area and their job, and answering lots of questions. For five months they work on a 15 day cycle, nine days on and six days off. They're dropped off at their base at the start of the nine days, then they set off in kayaks, paddling about ten miles each day, returning to the base only to be taken out at the end of the nine days.
